Dr. Heather Trelease has been working as an associate veterinarian at Plantation Animal Hospital since 2015. A California native, she completed her undergraduate studies in Biology at University of California San Diego where she enjoyed the breathtaking beaches. The love of wildlife led her to participate in sea turtle research and conservation in Grenada during her first year of vet school. After transferring to the University of Georgia, she worked as a large animal surgical technician and spent a summer in South Africa participating in white rhinoceros and elephant research.

Dr. Trelease enjoyed multiple surgical externships during her senior year and graduated magna cum laude. Following graduation she attended the University of Tennessee's animal rehabilitation program and worked as a small animal practitioner in Savannah. The love of Hilton Head's beautiful beaches and the scenic May River brought her over the bridge to live in Bluffton. Her spirited daughter, boy-girl twins, husband, senior dachshund and feisty cat keep her on her toes. Dr. Trelease's hobbies include tending to her vegetable garden, running and yoga.
